Using Copilot To Write Content In Your Style For Free Using GPT-4
Getting the most out of free AI
Over the next few posts I want to show you how to get the most out of AI without spending $20+ or more a month for subscriptions, including getting access to the latest GTP4o model. But first let’s start with something I use a lot.
Getting Copilot To Write In Your Style
Now, there are a couple of ways to do this depending on whether you have a Microsoft 365 subscription or not. For this article I am assuming you don’t, in another article I will show you how to bake this in, directly inside Microsoft Word.
So to get started you will need to collect several pieces of your writing and paste them into one document. Then export the document as a PDF file.
The next step is to use the Microsoft Edge browser to view the PDF. You can do this by right clicking the file and select open in Microsoft Edge.
Then at the top of the screen click on the Ask Copilot button
Then choose the More Creative option in the pane that has opened up on the right hand side
And ask it the following.
“Analyse the writing style, tone, structure. and most frequently used elements of this PDF and write a new [article/blog/email] with the same writing style, tone, structure, and frequently used elements on the following topic: [enter your topic here]”
Copilot will then automagically write about the topic in your style. You can then ask it for additional elements, ask it to change things or include things, make it longer, write a FAQ section etc.

Well, what happens when machines are doing all the writing? I mean 5 years from now, will anyone even be writing anything anymore? Will there be any incentive to get better at writing?
And I notice that Google just announced they will be incorporating Gemini into search. So what happens when nobody goes anywhere on the internet anymore? Publishers make no money, have no incentive for creating content...
I don't understand the trajectory right now. It makes very little sense to me. Google makes a majority of it's money from Ads in various forms. It seems odd then that the company would stop sending traffic anywhere because of...A.I. which essentially undercuts everyone paying them money.
It's almost like a war for A.I. dominance. Google sees this as the future of search, but they haven't worked out monetization yet, that's what it looks like anyway.
But as far as teaching people how to get A.I. to write like them...I get it. I do. It's what's happening right now and it's what people want to know. But I'm just wondering where it leaves the REAL writers in 5 years when A.I. is good enough to actually imitate social nuance and emotional intelligence with really good accuracy.
I think maybe I might be becoming a "vegan" but for A.I. instead of meat. I liked it better when humans do the thinking and the writing. I like the idea of people having a purpose. Too many industries being affected by this right now.
I’ve been using the copilot dedicated app for fast access to GPT-4 for free. Works really well 😊
