The Labs Unfiltered: Cracking TikTok Part 2
Collecting data on faceless accounts and some thoughts...
31st January 2024
Tasks
Find faceless profiles that are doing well on TikTok and analyse those.
So I sat down this morning and went through all my TikTok saves to find accounts that I found interesting and started to put them in a spreadsheet.
I mostly ignored accounts where the creator was featured on camera and focussed on the faceless ones. I tried to split this into a bunch of categories of different types of videos.
You can now put TikTok bookmarks into folders, but at the time most of these were bookmarked, TikTok didn’t have that feature so scrolling through my list of bookmarks took way more time than I anticipated.
Note: Save future bookmarks in folders. ;)
Anyhoo, once I built the spreadsheet, I started collecting data I thought was important and might reveal some trend or correlation, and I collected…
The number of fans each account had
The total likes on the account
The average engagement of the last 30 days’ videos
The total number of videos uploaded to the account
The average earnings per video based on the last 30 days
The estimated total revenue generated so far
As with any project I like to collect as much data upfront as it helps me build a picture of how people are actually making money.
Below is the complete spreadsheet. As I add more accounts, I will update this page, you can also view the Google Sheet here.
If you look through the list (there are three pages above), you will see that quite a few accounts have made over 100k in the last year, with one of them making that in the last four months.
